There’s only one thing to say if a person has a Sciatic nerve damage: His knee weakens. That means he can’t walk and sit properly.

The Sciatic nerve, FYI, supplies the muscles of the back of the knee and lower leg. So, if yours is damaged, you’ll definitely experience weakness of knee flexion (you can’t bend, really) and weakness of foot movements.

So, what causes Sciatica? It’s a good news that Sciatica cannot just be acquired through our usual clumsy habits of tripping and/or falling from the stairs. Common causes of Sciatica include Degenerative disease, pelvic injury or fracture, Piriformis syndrome, Slipped disk, spinal stenosis and Tumors. But still, doing some preventions can help, like avoiding prolonged sitting or lying with pressure on the buttocks.

Sciatic Nerve DamageWhy is it important to stay out of Sciatica? When you acquire Sciatica, you will not only experience pain EVERY night (yes, all 12 hours of your nights). There will also be a possibility that you’ll thoroughly lose your capacity to do leg movements. You’ll also have to endure some recurrent and unnoticed injuries in the leg.

The lesson: sit and lie properly from now on. Of course, there are treatments for Sciatica. But these treatments are painful (Injections, anyone?). Over-the-counter or prescription analgesics may also be needed to control nerve pain. Now, that’s not only pain in the body, but in the pocket as well. Who would like that?
